Gulden's new Clark NLD (Nasolacrimal Dilation) Probes are available in a range of sizes. Four (4) probes comprise a set of eight sizes 00-0, 1-2, 3-4, and 5-6. The Clark probes, with their exclusive tapered-tips dramatically improve NLD probing in two unique ways. First, the tapered tip eliminates the need for punctal dilation. These probes can easily pass through most nasolacrimal systems without additional instrumentation.
Second, the tapered tip allows a larger overall probe size to pass through the obstructed NLD. This feature is particularly useful in older children where the major constraint on probe size is the punctal opening. Compared with blunt-tipped probes, larger taper-tipped probes can pass through the NLD system to maximally dilate it, potentially achieving a higher cure rate.
