Eger Near Cards are for general practitioners, hospitals, nurses, teachers, occupational therapists and many others looking at a health record can immediately gauge a child's reading capabilities.

For example:

A remedial reading teacher looking at a child's health record and seeing that the child has 20/50 vision can immediately determine that that child is capable of reading newspaper print.

A physician who normally has very little insight as to the capabilities of a patient say with 20/40 vision, but using the card can see that that person should be able to read a paper back novel.
