News about Gulden’s Trial Lens Multi-Pinhole for
Use with Standard Trial Frames for Measuring Visual Acuity

The Trial Lens Multi-Pinhole inserted into a trial lens frame makes
testing more convenient, faster, and more comfortable for the patient.

ELKINS PARK, PA — Gulden Ophthalmics has introduced a Trial Lens Multi-Pinhole that fits all standard 38mm trial frames as well as four- and eight-well flippers. By combining the vision correction attained via trial lenses in the frame with vision testing using the Multi-Pinhole, the patient response to the testing can be more accurate and the testing easier to administer.
There are five pinhole sizes in the multi-pinhole from .8mm to 1.5mm. The smaller pinholes provide routine acuity testing while the larger pinholes provide for testing for suspected reduced vision via decreases in retinal illumination. The Trial Lens Multi-Pinhole are made of durable, glossy ABS plastic for long life and easy, effective cleaning and sanitation.
The Multi-Pinhole is used to test visual acuity by employing a simple means to focus light, eliminating the effects of refractive errors such as with myopia during the testing. In this way the vision care professional can estimate the maximum improvement in a patient’s vision that can be attained by lenses to correct errors of refraction. The Multi-Pinhole can also be used in visual acuity testing in mydriatic patients where the Multi-Pinhole compensates for the inability to contract the iris, thus assisting the eye in obtaining a retinal projection similar to that of a non-cycloplegic eye.
